|ENGLISH AND ONE MODERN INDIAN LANGUAGE (MIL) ARE COMPULSORY. HINDI / BENGALI / URDU ARE OFFERED AS MODERN INDIAN LANGUAGES. STUDENTS ARE TO CHOOSE THE HONOURS SUBJECTS AND TWO ELECTIVE SUBJECTS TAKING ONE SUBJECT ONLY FROM A GROUP. MUSIC MAY BE OPTED AS A NON-TAUGHT SUBJECT.|

Events & Workshops
- Faculty and IIIrd year students (Honours and General) of Department of Political Science went for an institutional visit to the West Bengal Legislative Assembly on 21.08.15.
- Eighth Belarani De Memorial Lecture was organized by Department of Political Science in collaboration with SHRIJAA (The Alumni Association of the College) on 10.09.15. Dr. Samita Sen, Professor, School of Women’s Studies, Jadavpur University, Kolkata spoke on My Daughter’s Mothers: Women’s Education, Bengal 1870s to 2000s.
- A Special lecture was organized on 22.09.15 for students of Department of Political Science. Professor Dipankar Sinha, Department of Political Science, University of Calcutta delivered a lecture on ‘Understanding Democracy’.
- Study Circle was organized by Department of Political Science on 16.12.15 in which the students made presentations on ‘Terrorist attack in Paris’, ‘Leadership of Aung San Suu Kyi, Burmese opposition politician and President of the National League for Democracy in Myanmar’ and ‘Modi’s visit to U.K. in November 2015’.
