ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

Category Eligibility Criteria For Form Fill Up Additional Criteria
General Minimum aggregate 60% AND 60% in Geography AND 50% in English. Candidates not having Geography in Class XII may apply provided they have obtained 70% in aggregate and 50% in English. Preference will be given to candidates having Geography in Class – XII. Must have passed in English
SC/ST/OBC-A/OBC-B Candidates belonging to the SC, ST, OBC-A & OBC-B communities should obtain a minimum of 40% marks in the aggregate OR 40% marks in the subject or related subjects. SC,  ST & OBC communities recognised by Govt. of West Bengal are only eligible for the exemption mentioned above . Must have passed in English

(Aggregate + English (1st or 2nd Language) + Geography)/3Without Geography: (Aggregate + English (1st or 2nd Language))/2
GEOGRAPHY AS ELECTIVE:
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA : Minimum 50% in aggregate AND 50% in subject.
SUBJECT COMBINATION:
ENGLISH AND ONE MODERN INDIAN LANGUAGE (MIL) ARE COMPULSORY. HINDI / BENGALI / URDU ARE OFFERED AS MODERN INDIAN LANGUAGES. STUDENTS ARE TO CHOOSE THE HONOURS SUBJECTS AND TWO ELECTIVE SUBJECTS TAKING ONE SUBJECT ONLY FROM A GROUP. MUSIC MAY BE OPTED AS A NON-TAUGHT SUBJECT.

Events & Workshops

  • A lecture was organized by Department of Geography which was held on 07.09.15. Renowned social activist Ms. Urmi Basu delivered the lecture on ‘Women’s Empowerment’.
  • The students of Department of Geography went for an excursion to Tajpur, West Bengal on 17.01.16 and returned on 20.01.16.
