BANGLA BHASHA DIBAS
‘International Mother Tongue Day’ is observed every year as ‘Bangla Bhasha Dibas’ in our college since 2005. It is a world wide annual observance held on 21st February to pay respect to all the vernacular languages.
The Department of Bengali, Shri Shikshayatan College organises a Seminar on that day, with Eminent Speakers from different fields such as, noted film director Shri Koushik Ganguly, eminent Poet Shrijato, drama personality Shri Chandan Sen, Academy Award winning writer Shri Nalini Bera, Ex- Vice Chancellor and reputed academician Dr. Gopa Dutta Bhowmick and many others.
The program starts with the Welcome Address by our Principal. Along with the Seminar various Inter College Competitions on Creative Writing, Poster making, Debate, Extempore, Recitation, Drama and Photography are organized. Students from different colleges and universities (UG and PG) come and take part in these competitions. Certificates are given to all participants. The contestants who rank in the first three positions are awarded prizes. With all due respect and dignity we observe this auspicious and very significant day every year.
2017 – Bangla Bhasha Dibas was observed on 10/03/17. Our Guest Speaker, Eminent Film Director and Actor Shri Koushik Ganguly spoke on “Amar Chobite Bangla Mon.” Along with the Seminar, various Inter College Competitions took place.
2018 – Bangla Bhasha Dibas was observed on 21/02/2018. Eminent Poet Shrijato was the Guest Speaker. Seminar followed by various Inter College Competitions.
2019 – Bangla Bhasha Dibas was observed on 26/02/19. Eminent Drama Personality Shri Chandan Sen was the Guest of Honor. The title of his speech was “Bhobisyater Avineta, Avinetar Bhobisyat”. Various Inter College Competitions also took place.
2020 – Bangla Bhasha Dibas was observed on 28/02/20. Eminent Novelist, Academy Award winning writer Shri Nalini Bera spoke on “Samprotik Bangla Sahitya”. After the speech, various Inter College Competitions took place.
2021 – Bangla Bhasha Dibas was observed on 21/02/21 in Virtual Medium, for the first time. Ex Vice Chancellor of Gourbanga University, Ex Principal of Lady Brabourne College and Eminent academician Professor (Dr.) Gopa Dutta Bhowmick was the Guest Speaker. She delivered a Lecture on “Matribhasha O Manobadhikar”.
