DEPARTMENTAL HIGHLIGHTS
  • The department aims at the holistic development of students. Apart from focussing on the good academic performance of our students, we keep organizing different programs with external experts from academia and industry and different interactive activities for the students to increase their exposure to current trends within and outside the scope of the curriculum.
  • Regular student seminars are held in the department to aid in soft skill development of the students.
  • The department also brings out a magazine annually where students contribute articles.
  • Student projects are carried out from time to time to acquaint students with simple experimental techniques outside the academic curriculum.
  • Regular meetings of the “Chemistry Research Club” are held in the department and “Sharing of Research Experience” by faculty members is also done regularly to help develop research aptitude and analytical thinking in the students.
  • The Department also organizes seminars and special lectures with speakers of national and international repute in order to increase the exposure and interactions of faculty members and students of the department with the experts of similar and related academic fields. Institutional or industrial visits are also organized for the students of the department.
  • The Department carries out regular career counselling sessions to increase student employability and awareness about different career pathways that can be pursued.
  • Most the students of the department who have passed out are currently pursuing higher education in Chemistry or allied subjects in reputed institutes like National institute of Technology, University of Calcutta, Jadavpur University etc.

ALUMNI The first two honours batches of the department have passed out. Many of these students have opted for higher studies in chemistry and allied sciences with quite a few of them pursuing MSc. In reputed institutes like National Institute of Technology, University of Calcutta, Jadavpur University etc.
